Thank you for being a part of our community! Due to your overwhelming response to our 2024 survey, we will now offer gentle yoga classes twice a month as part of your membership for those who are interested.

One of these classes will always be held on the third Thursday of the month from 4:45 – 6:15 pm Central (office hours will be adjusted for these weeks to accommodate these classes). The other will be held on a Wednesday from 2:45 – 4:15 pm Central. You will note that I have blocked off 90 minutes for these to allow for:

  • 15 minutes of optional gathering time at the beginning – This will include time to complete the waiver if you have not already done so, ask any questions, share any special concerns or needs you might have, and connect with the other folks taking the class.
  • 60 minutes of class time – We will begin with some gentle reminders to honor our own bodies and our own wisdom and to ground ourselves in the yamas and niyamas, the foundational core values of yoga. This might include reminders to be kind to and gentle with ourselves physically and mentally (ahimsa), to practice being content in the moment (santosha), and to build our own self-awareness (svadhyaya). In addition to giving back to and supporting South Asian teachers, focusing on these yamas and niyamas as we practice can help us avoid appropriation. Please make sure to arrive by the time we start class. I will not let you in once we begin unless you have already completed the waiver and taken at least a class or two so I know that you are familiar with these reminders.
  • 15 minutes of optional transition time at the end – You are welcome to spend extra time transitioning out of savasana, asking any questions that arose during class, and connecting with other members of our community.

Please complete this waiver (https://forms.gle/XewEKYC2KVM2QEGt6) prior to your first class and mark your calendar to join us if interested:

You are welcome to come to any classes that fit into your schedule. Each class will be centered around a specific theme, and I would invite you to share your favorite poses, classes, and themes with me as we move forward so I can include those in future classes.

Note that my experience and training is in adapting yoga for all bodies and levels of experience, including those of us with more or less apparent disabilities and with histories of trauma. These classes will be accessible for anyone who wants to join us, and options will be given to explore poses seated in a chair rather than standing or being on a mat. Please dress comfortably (whatever that means for you) and feel free to set up with a mat, chair, blankets, blocks, bolsters, or anything else that might be helpful for you. Of course, make sure to have a water bottle handy to stay hydrated!

We will use our small group Zoom link for these classes:

It will be helpful for me if you can leave your video on so I can share specific prompts as needed. We will NOT be recording these classes.
