Jennifer has presented for the American Music Therapy Association and for the Great Lakes Region of the American Music Therapy Association on the use of yoga in music therapy. She was featured in a MusicTherapyEd Mindstorm Monday webinar on the same topic. Jennifer's presentation experience also includes a staff inservice on programming for individuals with dementia, a team building drum group, and a professional seminar on using music to manage stress. Previously, Jennifer presented for the American Music Therapy Association and for the Alzheimer's Association on the use of music therapy in the grief process.

MUSIC THERAPY is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. (American Music Therapy Association definition, 2013) In other words, music therapy is simply the use of music to accomplish non-musical goals, generally related to the improvement or maintenance of mental and physical health. Clients do not need a background in music to benefit from these services.
Jennifer specializes in small group sessions for adults with dementia, mental illness, and chemical dependency, leading weekly groups at Sojourn Adult Day Services and NuWay Counseling Center. In addition, she facilitates music therapy and yoga groups for North Memorial's Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs. Jennifer has presented for the American Music Therapy Association and for the Great Lakes Region of the American Music Therapy Association on the use of yoga in music therapy. In addition, Jennifer has presented nationally for the American Music Therapy Association and for the Alzheimer's Association on the use of music therapy in the grief process and recently led a music therapy-based grief support group for Easter Lutheran Church in Eagan.
Jennifer is also honored to serve as a supervisor for practicum students and interns from Augsburg College's music therapy department and as the Public Relations Representative for the Music Therapy Association of Minnesota!
Yoga & Adaptive Yoga
Jennifer specializes in yoga; adaptive/chair yoga; doga; combination yoga/music therapy, yoga/drumming, and yoga/scripture classes; and private sessions.
Jennifer currently teaches private yoga sessions Monday evenings in her Joyful Noises Studio (limited space available). Jennifer has previously led adaptive yoga classes for the Normandale Center for Healing and Wholeness and Balance Life Wellness in Waconia as well as a "Meditation in Movement" program combining yoga with the Biblical lectionary for the coming Sunday at Normandale Lutheran Church in Edina. Jennifer has developed a music therapy program the integrates adaptive yoga principles with singing, reminiscence, and song writing, that she leads along with adaptive yoga at Sojourn Adult Day Services. In addition, Jennifer facilitates music therapy and yoga groups for North Memorial's Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs. She has also received training in Yoga Calm for Kids and previously taught a special class for Normandale Lutheran's Family Camp.
